Dr. Gryboski chose a career in medicine to promote the health and well being of the community, and to help those who are ill.
He specializes in gastroenterology because it involves the multiple organ systems involved in digestion. He also enjoys getting to know his patients, as well as the satisfaction he derives from helping people who are actively ill and require emergency care.
He said the most rewarding aspect of his job is treating patients and curing diseases. In particular, he cites the story of a woman whom he helped diagnose with colon cancer in 2009. She underwent surgery and chemotherapy, and has had no evidence of a recurrence.
“I have enjoyed getting to know her and her family well and was even invited to her 50th birthday party,” Dr. Gryboski said.
If Dr. Gryboski were not a physician, he would be a teacher since he loves to learn new things and teach others. He enjoys salt-water fishing, skiing, boating, hiking, exercise, and almost any outdoor activity.
He also enjoys spending time with his family, which includes his wife Ruthie, sons Will and Jack, and Luke, a two-year-old Black Lab.
