Dr. William M. Strain chose a career in medicine because he enjoys helping people to feel optimistic about their health. He specialized in gastroenterology because the field allows him to think critically as well as to actively perform procedures that have the ability to change his patients’ lives for the better.
Dr. Strain believes that aiding in the prevention of cancer is the most rewarding aspect of his career. He has had many cancer patients over the years and says that those patients have inspired him by their demonstrations of “great faith” during all phases of cancer care.
If Dr. Strain were not a physician, he probably would have been a teacher who also coached sports. In his private time, he volunteers as a board member of Southwest Christian Care, a nonprofit hospice ministry located in Union City. Southwest Christian Care, founded in 1987, provides its services at no cost to patients or their families.
Dr. Strain’s hobbies include spending time outdoors — trout-fishing and gardening, in particular. He is married with three sons, all of whom are married, and is a very proud grandfather.
